The Executive Board

HMCI is supported by an Executive Board of Directors who meet monthly. They are:

  • National Director, Education: Sue Gregory. Sue has responsibility for developing Ofsted's education and early years frameworks and the inspection and regulation of education, early years and learning and skills providers and settings in the north of England.
  • Deputy Chief Inspector and National Director, Social Care: John Goldup. John is responsible for the delivery of Ofsted's inspection and regulation activity in all areas of children's social care, and for the development of social care inspection policy and methodology.
  • National Director, Learning and Skills: Matthew Coffey. This Director’s role is to lead the team which delivers policy and guidance for inspectors and those who work in and use learning and skills services, including colleges, work-based learning providers and apprenticeship providers.
  • Director, Performance and Operations: Lorraine Langham. The directorate is responsible for Ofsted's data and information, challenge and analysis, Annual Report and surveys, communications, projects, planning and performance, and corporate governance and support. It oversees a programme of insights for HMCI, wihich support improvements in the way we inspect and raise national standards.
  • Director, Finance and Resources: Darryl Nunn. This Directorate makes sure Ofsted provides corporate support services and operates within the wider framework of financial control established by the Treasury.
  • Director, Strategy: Richard Brooks. Richard’s role is to help Ofsted make an even bigger difference to the lives of children, young people and learners by influencing service providers and policymakers.
