English subject survey visits

To find out as much as we can about English for learners, we visit up to 90 schools each year on English subject survey visits.

We send each school we visit a feedback letter telling them our judgement on their overall effectiveness in English. The letter also tells the school how they are doing on pupils’ achievement, the quality of teaching, the quality of the curriculum, and leadership and management in English.

You can find our latest feedback letters about English below. We update these every term. Those schools judged outstanding overall at their last inspection are identified with an asterisk (*)
