Lorraine Langham, Chief Operating Officer
Lorraine Langham has been a Director at Ofsted since July 2007 when the new Ofsted was created. She was appointed as Director, Corporate Services and led on delivering significant changes and cost saving in Ofsted’s support services as part of creating the new Ofsted from four previous inspectorates. As Director, Organisational Development, she led changes in the way Ofsted operates which delivered savings of over £50million.
Lorraine is currently Ofsted’s Chief Operating Officer and also leads the Performance and Operations Directorate; she also chairs the Operations Executive Board. The Performance and Operations Directorate is responsible for Ofsted’s data and information, challenge and analysis, Annual Report and surveys, communications, projects, planning and performance, and corporate governance and support. It oversees a programme of insights for HMCI, which support improvements in the way we inspect and raise national standards.
Lorraine was formerly Managing Director of Verve Communications – a successful joint venture company she co-founded. She previously spent many years as a chief officer in London local government, including as statutory Director of Social Services, Deputy CEO, and Assistant Chief Executive.
