Additional guidance on inspecting employer provision

Additional guidance on inspecting employer provision has been written for employers who manage and run their own government-funded contracts and for inspectors to use during inspection of those employers. It is recognised that providing training is not the primary business for an employer and that they may use different processes and systems to those found in organisations that specialise in delivering training.
The guidance is in addition to the Handbook for inspection of further education and skills and puts into context the types of evidence and operating conditions that might be found in an employer. Suggestions about the different arrangements that may be in place are listed for each aspect and questions in the Common inspection framework for further education and skills 2009. Not all statements will be relevant nor are they required. They have been written to help ensure inspections take account of the context for employer-based learning.
