This is a consultation document on proposals for the inspection of services for children looked after and care leavers.

This paper invites your views on our proposals to help us shape the new inspection arrangements, which will come into effect from April 2013.

Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission seek the widest possible range of views from those who have an interest in, or expertise relating to, services for children and young people so that the inspection arrangements take proper account of the needs and circumstances of all interested parties. Above all, the arrangements must assure the quality of services and the best possible outcomes for children looked after and care leavers.

The closing date for the consultation is 18 September 2012.
