This 2006 report, based on a workshop organised by the Children's Rights Director, examines the pressures children and young people face while caring for a family member with a long-term illness or disability. Young carers highlighted the need for advice on giving medication; for schools to make allowances for conflicts between caring crises and coursework deadlines; and for social care assessments of young carers' support needs as well as those of the cared-for adult.
