A showcase of good practice across providers that Ofsted inspects or regulates
03 Nov 2008
Ref: 080042
This document only applies to the inspection of boarding and residential special schools.
The purpose of this benchmarking guidance is to help inspectors make consistent judgements and to provide information for children, young people, service providers and other stakeholders about how we make inspection judgements about children's services. It aims to identify clear criteria for deciding on inspection judgements, which in turn support and develop improved services that meet the needs of the children and young people using them.
The guidance is complemented by a summary of responses to the guidance's consultation and information for providers.
