Inspection judgements 2009/10 for maintained schools

23 Nov 2010 Ofsted

Ref: 20100005

These workbooks present inspection judgements for inspections carried out in the academic year 2009/10 where the inspection report had been published by 18 November 2010. They include inspection judgements from section 5, or section 8 deemed 5, inspections. Inspectors make judgements on a four point scale (1 = outstanding, 2 = good, 3 = satisfactory, 4 = inadequate).

There are seven Excel workbooks that you can download as two compressed zip files. The first zip file contains three workbooks. Two of the workbooks contain inspection judgements at school level. These bring together individual inspection judgements included in each inspection report, and provide an overall summary of the inspection outcomes over the 2009/10 year. Also included is an excel-based analytical tool, designed to help you analyse the outcomes of inspections which took place between 1 September 2005 and 31 August 2010. This is particularly useful for determining regional and local authority level inspection outcomes.

The four workbooks in the second zip file contain further breakdowns for the main inspection judgements for primary and secondary schools by free school meal eligibility and by school size, a breakdown by specialism for secondary schools, post-16 judgements for secondary schools and Early Years Foundation Stage judgements across all phases.

The timetable for future releases of official statistics about maintained school inspection outcomes is in the Schedule for the release of official statistics.
