Mandatory qualifications for teachers of pupils with sensory impairment

In 2001, the Department for Education and Skills gave approval for eight institutions or partnerships to provide training in one or more of the three sensory impairment specialisms. During the academic year 2003/04, Ofsted visited the providers as part of a survey to evaluate the quality and impact of the training, and the extent to which the provision meets the national specification.
