The implementation of the National Numeracy Strategy (NNS) began in English primary schools at the start of the autumn term of 1999.The purpose of the strategy is to improve standards in mathematics. This is the third report on the NNS published by Ofsted. It provides a detailed account of the implementation and impact of the strategy in primary classrooms in England.
