The new framework for the inspection of independent schools - consultation
24 Jan 2012Ofsted
Ref: 110131
This consultation is now closed.
This consultation seeks views on proposals for a revised framework for the inspection of independent schools.
We propose to revise the inspection framework for September 2012 to raise expectations for even greater improvements in the performance of independent schools, which we believe will benefit children and their parents and carers.
We are proposing the changes to improve our inspection and reporting arrangements. We are aware that independent schools are diverse in size and nature, and we want to hear the views of all interested parties about our proposals. There are different versions of the consultation for adults, and for children and young people.
The closing date for the consultation is 17 April 2012.
If you would like a version of any document in a different format, such as large print or Braille, please telephone 0300 123 1231 or email enquiries@ofsted.gov.uk.
Consultation document for adults
This document was updated in February.
Since the consultation was launched, paragraph 32 has been revised to explain that we propose to replace the judgement of ‘satisfactory’ with ‘adequate’. No additional question has been added, and no changes have been made to the young people's version of the document.
The adult consultation document is available in two formats below.
