Between May 2008 and March 2009, the National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER) conducted a series of visits to and interviews at schools that had originally been inspected in the early days of the inspection framework introduced in 2005. The purpose was to evaluate the impact of inspection over time and to gather the views of teachers and support staff in schools about the inspection process and the impact it has on schools. The findings were also used to inform the planning for the new inspection framework to be used from September 2009.
