This page has statistics on the inspection of children’s social care providers in England. The provider types include, children’s homes, residential special schools registered as children’s homes, secure children’s homes, boarding schools, residential special schools, further education colleges with residential accommodation, independent fostering agencies, local authority fostering and adoption agencies (inspections up to 31 August 2013), voluntary adoption agencies, adoption support agencies and residential family centres.
inspections of all types of children’s homes will be published on a quarterly basis
inspections within other social care remits will be published every six months.
Each release comprises key findings, charts and tables in Word and pdf format, charts, tables and maps in Excel format, and the underlying data in Excel and comma separated values (.csv) format.
There is an additional release to provide the data which covers the period of the Annual Report 2010/11 and which includes data on all provider types. The Annual Report 2010/11 can be found on a separate webpage.
There was not a Social Care Annual Report for 2011/12 and therefore there are no corresponding Annual Report statistics for 2011-12. There are however the usual quarterly and six monthly statistics that cover this period and which includes data on all provider types.
There is an additional release to provide the data which covers the period of the Social Care Annual Report 2012/13 and which includes data on all provider types. The Social Care Annual Report 2012/13 can be found on a separate webpage.
Each release comprises tables and the underlying data in Excel format.
The quarterly and six monthly data are initially released in ‘provisional’ form, three months after the end of the inspection period covered, and are then updated in ‘final’ form in the subsequent data release. The provisional data are revised into final data in order to include any further inspections from the period which have had their inspection reports published since the provisional data release. The Annual Report data are published in final form only.
