New inspection arrangements for maintained schools will be introduced in September 2009.

Following the successful trial of new methodology in a small number of schools in the summer term 2008, a larger-scale pilot programme took place in the autumn term 2008 and the spring term 2009.

This document provides a summary evaluation of the main findings of the spring 2009 pilot inspections, focusing on the key differences between these and the pilot inspections carried out in the autumn term.
