In September 2003, Ofsted and the Adult Learning Inspectorate (ALI) published a report, Literacy, numeracy and English for speakers of other languages: a survey of current practice in post-16 and adult provision, which evaluated the implementation of the government's Skills for Life initiative. This report evaluates the quality of literacy, numeracy and language provision in general further education colleges and independent specialist colleges, one year on from the publication of the original report.
