07 Feb 2012
This tool was updated in February 2012.
Ofsted developed the social care data analysis tool to help produce pre-inspection data briefings to support the:
The tool uses data published by the Department for Education in its statistical first releases, the NHS information centre data, Ofsted data and other suitable data. There are data on areas such as core assessments, child protection plans and looked after children data, including ethnicity and qualifications breakdowns.
The tool enables the user to compare local authorities with their statistical neighbours as well as with the national average.
There are two different parts to the tool, which are selected in the indicator type field:
In addition the tool has the facility to create an annexe of data for the local authority the user is interested in. To create the annex simply click on the Create Full Annexe (for all the data) or Create UI Annexe (for data just used for contact, referral and assessment inspections) button and the annex will appear in a separate Excel workbook. The annex contains all the local authority’s data and associated graphs in one Excel sheet.
If you have any further queries regarding the tool then please email socialcaredatateamqueries@ofsted.gov.uk.
