Data View

Data View is a digital tool enabling people to compare regional and local performance of schools, further education and childcare providers.

The tool allows you to compare and contrast performance in Ofsted inspections in regions, local authority areas and constituencies over a number of years. For example, you can use the tool to see whether schools in your area are getting better over time and whether they are doing as well as schools in similar areas in other parts of the England. Data View also enables the comparison of similar local authority areas.

For the first time, Data View enables you to look at and compare Ofsted inspection evidence in a simple, visual way so that you can see what performance is like in your local area when compared with other areas across the country. You can also look at the picture across England to see trends over time and significant variances in performance.

In order to find out more about Data View, either access it directly at dataview.ofsted.gov.uk or watch this brief introductory video demonstrating what it can do.

If you would like to know more detail about the data included (and not included) within the tool itself, please read our extended description.

Please note that Data View contains the results of inspections for all open providers at particular points in time. The latest reference point shows inspection judgements as at 31 December 2012 (as at 31 August 2012 for initial teacher education). It does not contain live data or information identifying individual providers.

To find the latest inspection judgements for individual providers, please search by provider type, location or name on the Find an inspection report page.

If you have any enquiries about Data View, ideas for how it could improve or comments on any other aspect of our website please contact us.
