Strategic planning in LEAs

The Local Education Strategy project was developed from a local Public Service Agreement. It was a key element in the Department for Education and Skills' implementation of the ministerial initiative for plan rationalisation. The aims of the project were to create a more coherent and corporate approach to strategic planning, to reduce duplication, to save time to allow LEAs to concentrate on raising standards in schools and to produce plans that are fit for purpose and more accessible to a wider audience. The project set out to develop strong working relationships and partnerships between local and national government.
