The guide draws upon inspection evidence and academic research to provide professional development guidance to help modern language subject leaders implement, monitor and evaluate school improvement. This guidance is not an inspection or performance management instrument, and should not be used as such. It is intended to promote dialogue and understanding about the features of good target language use by teachers and pupils that result in good language learning.
