This document is for reference only: our unannounced inspections of contact, referral and assessment arrangements ended in January 2012.
Our new unannounced inspections of child protection began in May 2012. For further information go to Framework for the inspection of local authority arrangements for the protection of children.
Annual unannounced inspections of contact, referral and assessment arrangements for children in need and children who may be in need of protection began in July 2009. Following the first year’s inspections, an initial review has been conducted of the inspection framework. This revised framework is effective from 1 September 2010.
